Back on track

I just arrived back in Istanbul. I had to walk all the way to my house since Varan, the bus company that me and Ömer’s mother came with has Çiftehavuzlar as last stop for their service bus from Ataşehir. Since I wanted to be economical I did not jump into a cab, which is something I would do normally seriously I thought the walk home would never end!

But the trip went really smoothly and me and Inci had a nice time talking about everything between heaven and earth. She has been a great support in this Kos matter. So a big thank you to her for making me feel better!

We ate food at Bolu Dağı and oh my my my it was so nice! Ömer I know for sure that you would have loved our lunch today ;)

Should I or should I not?

I watched the movie Julie&Julia yesterday and I absolutely loved it. The message I feel it sent to me was that you should always do what makes you happy. For example the girl in the movie, Julie Powell, who the movie is based on works for a company  dealing with the after shocks of 9/11 where she sits in a cubicle all day every day. The irony is that she is stuck there when she actually wants to be a writer.

Therefore, the important message I have to my near and dear and for anyone who reads my blog. Take chances, take risks and you might see yourself in a much better place, or worse, but hey you at least tried so its a thumbs up for the effort made =)

So my problem is that I have been under a huge amount of stress when it comes to the development of my career, which frankly is not developing at all. I think this is due to me not knowing what it is that I want to do when I ‘grow up’. Do I want to design clothes? Do I want to live in a small village type place? Do I want a career in finance? Do I want a career in Fashion?

Well I have taken some major decisions and this means I am applying for my advanced studies and hopefully this will lead me into the right path (at least so I can pay my student loan off =). But I have been offered a job on Kos and everybody thinks I should take it but frankly I can not say that this offer is that convincing. What would I do there? Who would I hang out with? Where can I do my sports? I mean it is Kos, an island with no shopping malls. Yikes! Anyways I would appreciate some kind of sign good or bad, convincing or not regarding this matter. Help! I am lost.

Sony 3D Home

How crazy is that? We will be able to enter the world of 3D while watching our favourite movies and playing games. That is what I call technological innovation. The release of the Sony 3D Home showed a 1% rise on shares on the Tokyo market so to me it seems it will be a hit in the Asian market (this is what I understood it as while watching BBC news but I might be mistaken and I can not find any sources).

Enjoy this short film about the new sensational Sony 3D home system.

Sometimes An Education isn’t by the book

An Education is a movie based on the famous British journalist Lynn ‘Demon’ Barber’s autobiographical memoirs, also titled An education. She is known and famous for her ‘no mercy’ style of interviewing where she enjoys stripping down her victim leaving the closet all cleaned out, result, black listed from Hollywood.

Melis in Wonderland

No, Alice in Wonderland.

An extraordinary piece of cinema artwork. I am thanking Disney and director Tim Burton for this new interpretation of Alice in Wonderland. I have not yet had the chance to watch it but I am hoping to get that done in the upcoming days. Costumes and make-up already get 10 out of 10 and now the rest is left for me to see on the big screen!

aliceinwonderland_img1_720

In the 1950’s Disney did an animated interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that he wrote in 1865, and it is still my absolute favourite Disney movie. The movie was made under the supervision of Walt Disney himself and the film and its animation is regarded the finest work in Disney studio history and I can not do more than agree.

Yes I am a Alice in Wonderland fan!

82nd Oscar Academy Award

I have not been involved in any of the major award ceremonies this year and that is a big shame on me. I always keep myself updated and I most of the times know quiet a lot when it comes to the world of entertainment.

Me and Ömer tried to watch the Oscars last night but we failed majorly on that task. If I was not asleep then Ömer was so we kept on doing that in turns until we were both sound asleep while the Hollywood stars were all glitz and glamour. I have now spent a reasonable amount of time on researching the winners and off course the details of the red carpet and the dresses. I managed to catch the opinions of the Turkish Academy Award Red Carpet panel last night on NTV but I just could not take it serious. But I can always upload my favourite pictures to mend the wounds of my fashionista heart.

 Rachel McAdams wearing Elie Saab

 Meryl Streep wearing Chris March

 Amanda Seyfried wearing Armani Privé

Lenny Kravitz and daughter Zoe Kravitz wearing Alexis Mabille

Kate Bosworth at the Oscar Vanity Fair After Party

 Diane Kruger wearing Chanel

Well these are the ones that I fell for, there are obviously a few more but I think I will upload them later.

Good night world!

25 lira for what?

To dry clean my gorgeous faux fur jacket! Incredibly good job done and I am more than happy to bring my 30 lira flee market faux leopard fur jacket that I bought in Bodrum but never wore. Gosh that has bugged me the whole winter!

YOU are coming with me next time I come back to Ankara. No mercy. By the way in Istanbul across the street from my house the lady said that she would charge me 50 lira eh yeah right like I would pay that! Ridiculous!

Motivation incoming

I have had the lack of motivation these past weeks where I have neither written a single word in my blog nor designed any clothes. This time seems to be over and I am slowly getting my mojo back =)

I bought the last number of Burda and guess what!? Massive range of nice dresses and cute jackets and I felt my designing fingers itch a tiny itsy bit. People, I will not keep you waiting no more because I am getting my hands on all my fabric in the nearest future!

This dress on the cover is absolutely fab and it has great details such as pockets and a nice cut. I will try and make this version but I will also use the bustier part and modify the pattern by making a balloon skirt instead of this slim version. What do you think? Well I can for sure not wait!

A day filled with nothing and everything

For you who do not know I am at this moment back in Ankara again. I always miss it here when I am back in Istanbul and once again I had a wicked weekend with my near and dear.

We went out Friday night with the gang and the night started off at City Lounge with Nazlı, Irmak, Can, Serkan and Özgur. We continued to Overall and we had a absolute blast there with pop music, dancing, live music yeah pretty much all you can ask for.

Saturday was not so much successful since we decided to go to Saklı Kent to watch Sidekick play. The worst venue and the worst people participating EVER. We went with the lads from the night before and we all just stood there and watched people embarrass themselves and we got so incredibly bored that the night ended at 02.00 with some midnight food at Aspava, the greatest döner place of all times (at that time). We obviously had a blast when we had our pre drinks at the house which I happen to have photo evidence of. They will be uploaded a bit later so stay tuned!

Better late than never!

Hey guys!

I am so incredibly sorry for not posting and keeping you updated but my life has been a bit hectic the past weeks!

Ömer was supposed to come here the other week but then his games got cancelled and moved to another date so he was a little bit upset that he would not be able to come. So…as the best girlfriend in the world I made a surprise trip to Frankfurt. As far as I know he got really blown away and did not suspect anything! So 1-0 to Team Melis.

I stayed for about a week and then it was back to real life. I had applied for a few jobs but after having had some rethinking I have decided to move back to Sweden slow by slow and this is as sure as I have been for a very long time. I will apply for a masters degree in Accounting and Auditing and I am crossing my fingers that I will get accepted. If not I have both a plan B, C and D! But more on that later!

I have been quiet down though for a few days feeling a bit a drift and not feeling comfortable but I thought maybe I could settle that feeling with a few glasses of wine and some booty shaking and yes indeed it did help a lot! I met up with Cem and Burak and we had some drinks to then go to Taksim and meet up Lina. By the way Lina you looked really pretty last night and too bad you did not have the chance to stay longer! She has also decided to move back to Sweden due to various reasons and I wish the best of luck to her and that we will stay in touch. Who knows, she might move to Stockholm =) (hope hope hope).

Anyways that is all for now and I promise to get to my old blogging self as soon as I can.

I love you all!

Baby sweet

I found this on the net while browsing around and it is just adorable and I could most definitively decorate my room with this even though it is for kids. I do not care. I am almost like a kid anyways.

PS. I would make the ‘roof’ a booklet as well by putting up walls on each side to keep the books there on the top. Just gorgeous!

Longing

Nude shades, Denim, Stripes and FushiaNude shades are hot this spring/summer! Stripey t-shirt and denim shirt are already in my closet and waiting to be worn this summer. Make sure not to forget to colour your feet with a fabulous pair of colourful loafers. My favourite colour this year on my feet will be electric blue and fuchsia.

Pomegranate

I always make sure to eat one pomegranate a week. This fruit is both yummy and fun to eat and filled with C vitamin, fibers and antioxidants that are good for our health. If you want to avoid clogged veins, cancer and inflammations then this fruit is something for you.

And the result is..

Quiet Ok..

You know you can not expect much from Turkish hairdressers considering how cheap they are and lack of education (not all of them but most). I have had a horror fest this weekend with some weird gingerish root colour and weird looking ends (when compared the normally gold blonde looked greenish). Anyways the hairdresser kindly offered to correct what had gone wrong, which was an offer I just could not refuse. So guys I look human again! Fairly unfortunately. I miss me Swedish hairdressers! =(((

I stayed home the whole weekend just sitting contemplating what to do about my awful hair and I just could not get to any good solutions so good thing that Murat had the answer for me.

After the hairdressers me and Naz met up with CC, Crazy Ceren and we just strolled around. We passed by the bazaar and bought a few things such as lycra socks for 1 lira each, a sports bra for 5 lira, foot peeler, foot/nail polisher (amazing stuff girls) and then ended up at Mado for a tea. After that we went home to have dinner, which was prepared by moi off course. Bulgur salad with loads of veggies since I am on my healthy week to see if I feel better after this change in my diet.

I later got a call from Ömer telling me he will not be coming to Istanbul this weekend nor the weekend after, which sucks so much! So I can not say I am that happy at this moment but what a girl to do. Well what is a ball at the castle?
